If you’re anything like me, you’ve often thought about and tried to figure out, how to generate referrals. For many years, I owned and operated an asphalt paving and maintenance company. When the economy tanked, referrals kept me in business.

Over the years, I was able to figure out, how to generate referrals. When I saw the results, post economic downturn(2008), I was grateful that I’d focused so much on laying the groundwork for the many years prior.

The four steps to developing a successful referral program are;

  1. Serve your customers. Fix their problems. Help them.
  2. Motivate your customers to pass referrals. Many times this is a monetary amount. If so, make sure the amount has a high enough value, to encourage their referrals.
  3. Recognize. I personally call anyone that refers me and I thank them. This goes along way. Other ideas are recognizing them in your newsletter or other publications. There are many ways to recognize customers.
  4. Remind. You must constantly remind your customers and thank them in advance for their referrals.

When you serve your customers and follow through on a program, it takes some time, but often, your referral program will exceed expectations. Mine has.

We’ve all heard the stories of Network marketing. Many of us have been trained to cringe at those words.

Usually, the stories most people hear about, are of the people that did not succeed. Not usually of the people you know, that are succeeding at network marketing. And usually, when someone doesn’t succeed, it’s because they never actually stepped up to the plate. And if you don’t step up to the plate, how likely is it, that you’re going to get a base hit, much less, a home run? Many of us then get conditioned to not considering, because, “Hey, who wants to fail?” Keep living in your comfy box with debt up your, you know what.

In my previous life as a traditional business owner, I never considered network marketing. Then the economy hit me and hit me hard. I had to auction off equipment and walk away from property. I kept my house and businesses, but I knew I had to find another way. Having to list my house and all my personal possessions as collateral to banks and suppliers, didn’t sit well with me anymore. I knew what could happen. I was a prisoner of my business and the system!

I was depressed for a few years. Not sure what to do.. I was wondering how I ever could retire.. Business was getting by, but I could never get ahead. Too much overhead. Equipment, insurance, taxes, unions, etc…I definitely wasn’t having fun 🙁

One day, my friend(best friend since I was 7!) and fellow Entrepreneur, Mark Bezik, asked me if I’d take a look at this green energy thing. Mark is one of those guys, that EVERYTHING he touches turns to gold..Mark carried instant credibility with me and green energy is kind of sexy, and its recession proof, so I said, sure.

OMG! He blew my mind! I didn’t know something like this existed. I was able to work with a few of my good friends and build a stream of passive, residual income. And all I do is help people save money on a product that EVERYONE uses and MOST would choose to go green, especially when they save money.  It’s been lots of hard work, but 4 years later I think I’ve proven most of the skeptics wrong. As I recently finished 39 out of 25,000 associates in a 4 month long promotion, to earn a trip to Riviera Maya!

The recession changed my perspective on business. I wish I had found network marketing much sooner. But, the reason I take it so seriously now, is because I’ve been through what I’ve been through and I won’t ever go through that again. I’m working towards being debt free! By getting 2 paychecks every Friday! This has been a great entry point into other forms of Entrepreneurship.

And, now I’ve even found a system, that enables me to grow my business, while I sleep. Simply by leveraging the internet. My good friend, Jeff Lerner, created this amazing system and company called Lifestyle Design International.

Some people even choose, to only work their home business, via the internet, in their pajamas!!

What will you do, if the economy falls apart? You don’t think the USA printing $ and devaluing our dollar will have an impact? It will! And we haven’t seen the impact YET. In our lifetimes, there will be a day where EVERYONE owns a home business. You may lose your job, but you won’t lose your debt! Many of the experts are predicting this. Warren Buffett is even in network marketing! So be sure to choose a home business that provides maximum leverage.

I’m talking about, everyone, having protection against a down turn in the economy. I’m talking about you, as an employee, having insurance on your job. I’m talking about, traditional business owner’s leveraging their existing business and networks, to create a safety net for their traditional business, and potentially giving them an exit strategy. I’m talking about TRUE FREEDOM. Financial, personal, and mental freedom.

And, MOST of us, are financial slaves and don’t even realize it. Orris Woodward does a great job of explaining why it’s important to get debt free.

Do you have a facebook page for your business? Are you receiving any leads from this page? Would 5-10 leads per day from Facebook make a difference for your business?

This work is simple. To help, I’m going to provide 3 very quick, easy steps you can take to get leads from Facebook, today!

  1. Create a fan or business page. Use this page to build your audience. Invite your friends to start. You can also find related business or social groups. Join them and start making friends and inviting these friends to like our page.
  2. Build your audience. Don’t post links or pictures of your product or company. This page is to brand you, not sell your product. Provide value to your followers. Tips, info, help, and some marketing. Also make your posts engaging. The more engagement you get, the more people see your stuff.
  3. If you want to get leads from Facebook, you will need to speak to your audience. As people comment, like or share your posts, engage with these people. Get to know them. Become friends. They will share their problems with you. You simply offer the solutions to their problems. You know have a lead.

I don’t know about you, but I often enter my home office(my basement) and wonder, “How can I Improve productivity?” While my kids are running around shooting me with Nerf Guns.

For me, my goal is freedom! Not to work all of the time! That’s a fine line to walk.  I recently had a coaching call with Adam Chandler, and he highlighted how important it was for me to improve productivity.  In an effort to get that productivity, I’ve been searching for some rules to apply to my processes. Given that I have a full time job AND three young boys, it’s key, that I increase my productivity. I picked up a few things from Adam and also, Tim Ferriss in his book, “The 4 Hour Work Week”. (Thanks Alex Hogan for recommending!) Improve productivity

  1. You must have a quiet space and quiet time. If you’re at work, put up a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your cubicle or office door. IF you’re at home, make sure your spouse and kids know, you are NOT TO BE DISTURBED.
  2. Often times, we are interrupted most my emails or your phone ringing. I’ve recently updated my email and voicemail l to say  “Due to high workload, I am currently checking and responding to email twice daily at 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
    If you require urgent assistance,(Please ensure that it is URGENT) that cannot wait until either 12:00 PM or 4:00 PM, please TEXT me”
    Thank you for understanding this move to more efficiency and effectiveness, It helps me to accomplish MORE by eliminating interruptions.”
  3. Outsource what you can. I stink at tech stuff. So, I recently outsourced some website design stuff, to a friend of mine that is much better at that stuff than I am. But, you also can outsource to people in China and India. When outsourcing anything that decisions must be made on, make sure you have a CLEAR set of rules to go by.
  4. I recommend having a daily list of activities. You also should have 3-4 non-negotiable activities on this list. Activities that you MUST do. Quite often, I don’t accomplish all that I set out to do, but when I have those 3-4 must-do’s, I knock those out. If you’re like me, sometimes your day gets away from you… Don’t beat yourself up and be down on yourself. This is counter-productive. Just remember, tomorrow is a new day. Start the next day right and get back on track!
  5. Plan phone calls to leads, prospects, and follow ups, in advance! Every day at 6 PM, I plan my following day. My 3-4 MUST DO activities along with the phone calls I’m going to make. IF I don’t do this, I usually forget to make those calls. So for me, this is very important to plan ahead.

I recently heard my mentor speak of a Quantum Leap. It sure got my attention!

My mentor, Bob Quintana recently spoke of this on his “Kick It off with Q” Call. This is a Monday morning, mindset call hosted by Bob.

 

Instead of this being, just a normal old leap year, I’m going to make this a Quantum leap year!

My quantum leap year will be cover my income, my career and most important, my life.

A Quantum leap is when a particle makes an explosive jump from one place to another. Where it doesn’t seem to make sense. Similar to counting, starting at 1.  2 comes next, but what if you skip the next 5 steps… This is a quantum leap

And this can happen to you, if you’re open to it and expect it. You must believe in every fiber of your body that this will happen. It all starts with mindset.

What is “I.L.T”?.. If you study top entrepreneurs, you will often hear this term. But, what is it? How do I do it?

I is short for invest. Invest time or money. But often both! You can’t be cheap on investing in yourself. Short the other areas, but not yourself. You must Invest to start the “I.L.T”

L is short for learn. When you invest your time and money, be sure to take notes, study, do everything you can to apply and make record of what you learn. Me, I keep all of my notes from books,webinars, calls, etc… in Evernote. This is a cloud based filing system that I use in many areas of my life. I love it!

T is what I’m doing right now, Teaching. Every time you learn something, teach others!

How sweet would it be, if there was a clear recipe for success? How about 6 quick tips for success??

I recently listened to a conference call with Dustin Wisnowski. It was a value packed call and I was grateful to listen. Dustin shared 6 tips for success.

1)Focus. Focus on simple strategies and perfect them. Practice them every day. After you’ve perfected them, add a new strategy. Stick to 1 new strategy at a time.

2)KISS. Keep it simple and stupid. Don’t overthink things

3)Vision. Have a clear and precise vision.

The topic for today is “Copy Your Way to the Top” and what in the world does that mean?

All through school we are taught copying is wrong and will be punished.  Yet most people don’t stop to think that is all we are ever taught.  Learn the lesson in class, regurgitate for the test and repeat until you graduate.  All you are ever taught is to copy what you learned and you will pass.  And the most successful people in the world use this every day to reach the top of their game.  Whether it’s a professional sports figure who learned to make the perfect shot from a coach, a business professional who learned the tricks of the trade from a mentor boss or a new mother taking tips from her mom and friends.  We all copy ever day because it works!

So the acronym for this post is COPY. C is for company, O is for opportunity, P is for product and Y is for yourself.

Anyone can copy their way to the top and it all starts with you.

You have to believe in the company you work for and more importantly the company you keep.  Seek out a company that you believe in and immerse yourself in the company of positive people who believe in you.

Believe in the opportunity with your company and the abundance that surrounds everyone. There is opportunity to rise to the top of any organization if you copy the ACTIONS of those who already have reached the top.  And the more you look for and seek out opportunity the more you will find.

P for product means you have to trust in, believe and use the produce or service you are selling.  If you don’t believe in the product find one you do.  Then simply copy the actions of the most successful people and you will have the same results. And it is that really that simple.

The most important thing is the Y.  You have to believe in yourself.  You and only you are standing in the way of your success.  Air travel, the light bulb and the computer you are reading this on are all here because the people who created them THOUGHT about it and made it real.  Even when great obstacles where in there way because they believed in themselves and refused to quit.

So find some who is doing what YOU want to do.  Find out exactly what the did to reach the top.

Then COPY there actions and you will find you have copied you way to the top.

So you’ve built a website and worked hard to market yourself or your product and you’ve received Internet leads…. Now what???   Many people are uncomfortable speaking on the phone, and this is often due to lack of communication skills.

Here’s some communication skills to help you through this.

  • Before you call a lead, research the area code. Maybe you’re familiar with this area. “are you from XXXX?” or “where are you originally from?” Or work with Family Occupation Recreation and Motivation to find out how to help the lead.  Building a rapport goes a long way to securing a relationship with the lead. But don’t overdue the building a rapport thing, you can over do it. This gets annoying to the lead
  • “How may I help you? “why did you opt in to my website” “what are you having trouble with?” are all good examples of what to ask an Internet lead.

Bottom Line, not only should you be thinking about how best to serve your leads and team mates, but this should be your waking thought every day, “Whom shall I serve today?”

Do you often wonder how to accomplish everything you want to accomplish? A Planning Process is the Key!

When you have a home business, often times, you have many distractions and forces pulling you in many different ways. For me, I have my family, my job, my pets, and many outdoor activities, pulling me in different directions. I learned years ago, that a planning process is key in helping me accomplish what I need to accomplish

A Proper Planning process, takes into account personal life, your business and your JOB. For me, if I didn’t have a planning process, I’d be much less productive

I have broken down my main business activities into a few key actions. I plan these activities out on Sunday morning. Every week, I plan the next week and review the previous week. I break down my non-negotiable activities into small chunks of time. I then place these activities onto my planner and into my Google Calendar. I keep my planner with me, at all times. This way I have total visibility of all my responsibilities at all times. I hope this helps you Crush every day like a Super Hero! Want a copy of my activity planner?
