Has anyone ever told you that obsession was a bad thing? Whomever said it, probably doesn’t have a history of reaching their goals.  Are you obsessed with reaching your goals? I am obsessed with reaching my goals. And according to Grant Cardone, in his book “10X“, you must be obsessed with reaching your goals, or you won’t reach them!

In the past, I’ve had people tell me I was obsessed with my business. At the time, I didn’t take this as a compliment. I do now. To be successful at anything, you must obsessed with reaching your goals.

Obsession is a natural state. We are born with obsession. Think about children. They are naturally obsessed with everything. And they stay this way, till they are told “No”. Over and over and over. This is a bad thing. Maybe just encourage them to be obsessed with something constructive, not destructive.

All of us are obsessed about something in our lives.TV, poker, sports, business, working out, alcohol, drugs, all have many people obsessed. Some of us are obsessed over destructive things, and others, productive things.

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be obsessed with reaching my goals. When I heard my company announce an incentive trip to Mexico, I knew the time was now. I committed myself and created an obsession to earn the trip. Never before this commitment to obsession, had I been a top earner in my company.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve often thought about and tried to figure out, how to generate referrals. For many years, I owned and operated an asphalt paving and maintenance company. When the economy tanked, referrals kept me in business.

Over the years, I was able to figure out, how to generate referrals. When I saw the results, post economic downturn(2008), I was grateful that I’d focused so much on laying the groundwork for the many years prior.

The four steps to developing a successful referral program are;

  1. Serve your customers. Fix their problems. Help them.
  2. Motivate your customers to pass referrals. Many times this is a monetary amount. If so, make sure the amount has a high enough value, to encourage their referrals.
  3. Recognize. I personally call anyone that refers me and I thank them. This goes along way. Other ideas are recognizing them in your newsletter or other publications. There are many ways to recognize customers.
  4. Remind. You must constantly remind your customers and thank them in advance for their referrals.

When you serve your customers and follow through on a program, it takes some time, but often, your referral program will exceed expectations. Mine has.

I don’t know about you, but I often enter my home office(my basement) and wonder, “How can I Improve productivity?” While my kids are running around shooting me with Nerf Guns.

For me, my goal is freedom! Not to work all of the time! That’s a fine line to walk.  I recently had a coaching call with Adam Chandler, and he highlighted how important it was for me to improve productivity.  In an effort to get that productivity, I’ve been searching for some rules to apply to my processes. Given that I have a full time job AND three young boys, it’s key, that I increase my productivity. I picked up a few things from Adam and also, Tim Ferriss in his book, “The 4 Hour Work Week”. (Thanks Alex Hogan for recommending!) Improve productivity

  1. You must have a quiet space and quiet time. If you’re at work, put up a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your cubicle or office door. IF you’re at home, make sure your spouse and kids know, you are NOT TO BE DISTURBED.
  2. Often times, we are interrupted most my emails or your phone ringing. I’ve recently updated my email and voicemail l to say  “Due to high workload, I am currently checking and responding to email twice daily at 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
If you require urgent assistance,(Please ensure that it is URGENT) that cannot wait until either 12:00 PM or 4:00 PM, please TEXT me”
Thank you for understanding this move to more efficiency and effectiveness, It helps me to accomplish MORE by eliminating interruptions.”
  3. Outsource what you can. I stink at tech stuff. So, I recently outsourced some website design stuff, to a friend of mine that is much better at that stuff than I am. But, you also can outsource to people in China and India. When outsourcing anything that decisions must be made on, make sure you have a CLEAR set of rules to go by.
  4. I recommend having a daily list of activities. You also should have 3-4 non-negotiable activities on this list. Activities that you MUST do. Quite often, I don’t accomplish all that I set out to do, but when I have those 3-4 must-do’s, I knock those out. If you’re like me, sometimes your day gets away from you… Don’t beat yourself up and be down on yourself. This is counter-productive. Just remember, tomorrow is a new day. Start the next day right and get back on track!
  5. Plan phone calls to leads, prospects, and follow ups, in advance! Every day at 6 PM, I plan my following day. My 3-4 MUST DO activities along with the phone calls I’m going to make. IF I don’t do this, I usually forget to make those calls. So for me, this is very important to plan ahead.

IF these guidelines resonate for you, please use what I’ve shared. Otherwise, I strongly recommend creating your own guidelines to increase productivity

I’ve often wondered, “How’s my Vision?” I’ve never really heard a really known if I was doing it “right”

I’ve heard Ray Higdon, Brian Fanale, Eric Worre, John Pyonteck, and many other Entrepreneurs use this term. I used to think vision was just having an idea and plan where I wanted to go. Since I’ve joined Jeff Lerner, I’ve been able to learn more on this topic.

Vision is extremely important. You should have a vision that “pulls” you

This vision should be a clear picture of what you expect to accomplish and more importantly, how it makes you feel. You vision should be clear on the type of person you are. Watch my video to hear more on vision.

So you’ve built a website and worked hard to market yourself or your product and you’ve received Internet leads…. Now what???   Many people are uncomfortable speaking on the phone, and this is often due to lack of communication skills.

Here’s some communication skills to help you through this.

  • Before you call a lead, research the area code. Maybe you’re familiar with this area. “are you from XXXX?” or “where are you originally from?” Or work with Family Occupation Recreation and Motivation to find out how to help the lead.  Building a rapport goes a long way to securing a relationship with the lead. But don’t overdue the building a rapport thing, you can over do it. This gets annoying to the lead
  • “How may I help you? “why did you opt in to my website” “what are you having trouble with?” are all good examples of what to ask an Internet lead.

Bottom Line, not only should you be thinking about how best to serve your leads and team mates, but this should be your waking thought every day, “Whom shall I serve today?”

I have recorded some of my calls with leads and uploaded them to youtube. However, they are not public. Email me and let me know you want access, and I will gladly give you access.

If you’re like MOST people, you set goals and have a hard time staying on task and completing goals. In my studies of people like Eric Worre and Ray Higdon(among many others), I’ve learned a few simple Time Management Skills for accomplishing your daily tasks, to set you on your way to success If you don’t have the proper approach to reaching your destination, you will end up down the wrong road(See Below and watch all the way, you won’t be disappointed!)

Good Time Management Skills starts with breaking down your goals, to smaller tasks or activities.  I recommend coming up with 4 or 5 essential, non-negotiable, activities. Act like your boss will fire you, if you don’t complete these activities.

  1. Be Very Specific. You must be very specific in creating your daily activities.
  2. Determine how much time is necessary to complete these tasks. Then break them down into 15-30 minute chunks
  3. Plug these tasks into your schedule. If you don’t use a schedule, SHAME ON YOU! You are supposed to be a professional and you’re not using a schedule of some type yet? No wonder you don’t have Time Management Skills
  4. The night before, examine and plan the following day. This is NOT just looking at your calendar. If you’re calling 5 people, write the actual 5 people down that you’re calling. Specifically PLAN your entire day. YES, you can do this. If you work from 9 to 5 and have kids to take to activities, and you’re not going to be home till 8 PM… You still have time to work a home business. TIME IS NO EXCUSE.  What are you doing on your drive to work? How about on the way home? You have time for 5 short phone calls. You have time at night to show your business opportunity over the phone.
  5. Start your day and your day with mind set activities. Mind set is one of the most important parts of being successful. My morning schedule consists of 10 minutes of meditation/visualization, reviewing my affirmations, and at least 20 minutes of personal development/Mind setting. When I’m able to work from home, I also exercise for 20-30 minutes

Do you Have a Development Plan for 2016?

IF you don’t have a road map or development plan to create a major breakout in 2016? It’s time to create one.

Here’s a recap of a recent conference call with Bob Quintana

The First question to ask yourself.  What’s your biggest Triumph that you’d like to accomplish in 2016? For me, it’s a 6 digit year from my part time, home business. This will allow me to have DUAL 6-digit incomes. When the economy crashed, it wiped out all of my savings and investments. Thus, I’m still rebuilding and 2 incomes will help GREATLY!

The Second question to ask yourself. Are you Committed to doing this? I’m committed to making this happen and I’ve created a very specific day/week/month plan and review to make this happen! Third question to ask yourself. What Personal Development are you committed to doing, to make this happen? I’m committed to continue learning skills that I need to take my business to the top! I’m going to register for another Landmark program The 4th and final question.  Where do you rank in your Tri Lateral Leadership ranking? This is a leadership score developed by Orrin Woodward and discussed in “Launching a Leadership Revolution”. This is my personal favorite leadership book. I’m currently re-reading it for my 4th time.Development Plan

  • Character. How’s your Integrity? Humility? Dependability?
  • Tasks. How effective are you? Do you accomplish tasks on time?
  • Relationships. How do you relate to others?

You should rank yourself 1-10 in all of those categories. Then multiply all 3 numbers and a perfect score would 1000. This is where Orrin Woodward lives. To recap, I’ve now provided you 4 very important questions to assist you in creating a development plan to create a BREAKOUT 2016!

How often do you reach your goals? If you’re like me, probably not often! So, I’ve often wondered, “How do I perform effective goal setting?”

Well, lucky for you and I, Ray Higdon, just wrapped up a webinar covering goal setting. I’m going to share my takeaways with you!

Annual goals are OK, IF there’s a series of smaller goals leading to the larger goal. Thus, when goal setting, if you have annual goal of adding 100 new people to your business, you should break that down into quarterly and monthly goals. If your baseline is you successfully recruit 20% of the people you present to, into your business.

  • Then you would need to present to 500 people for the year.
  • Quarterly= 125 presentations
  • Monthly = 42 presentations
  • Weekly = 11 presentations

This is the amount of presentations you’d need to make to recruit 100 people into your business. It’s much more effective breaking your goal down into manageable chunks. If you don’t do that, it’s easy to get discouraged. Also, when you don’t reach your goals, you break your word to yourself. This means you are now out of integrity to yourself. You need to keep your word to yourself to keep high self esteem and so you believe you deserve the rewards. Thus, many smaller goals leads to many smaller rewards and celebration and keeps self esteem high. For me, this is the game changer!

A couple more take away’s from Ray’s webinar

  • If you want to double your income, triple your actions!
  • Write your daily goals down on a note card and keep this note card with you
  • CELEBRATE ALL successes!
  • Your excitement grows as you grow
  • Add 1 MAJOR skill per year. Example, this year I’m adding internet marketing. I’m also adding Webinars. Yes, I’m adding 2 Major skills. I will be holding webinars monthly(for now, more often in the future)
