With Life Often “Lifeing” Us, it’s often difficult to keep a positive energy about us.

Often times in the past, it was near impossible for me. When you have a negative energy or mind set, it’s often hard to take action. If you’re looking to be successful,  you need to know what it takes to give you a positive energy.

One thing I’ve done to create a positive energy for myself, is re-programming.

Everything you do in life, every experience you experience, whether you remember these experiences today or not, creates “files” that are stored in your brain. In your subconscious. These files affect everything you do. Many of these files are old files, they are outdated and are no longer needed. Most of us don’t know how to just “delete” or “overwrite” these files. We can accomplish this via reading and personal development. One even better method is a program I graduated from, called The Landmark Forum. It was here that I was able to rid myself of the old, outdated files that were stored in my subconscious and prevented me from creating and adding new files. At Landmark I was able to start fresh with a new hard drive.

Another habit I’ve added to my daily schedule to keep positive energy is, repeating affirmations.

I have 11 affirmations that I repeat to myself at least twice a day. Usually more. I saved these affirmations in Evernote. I then took a screen shot of my screen and saved this image as my lock screen on my phone. Thus, every time I look at my phone, I see my affirmations. I will share a few of mine;

  1. Bob Quintana(My mentor in Green Energy), not only am I going to challenge you at the post, but I will beat you at the grandstand.
  2. I am a million dollar earner
  3. I am the possibility of Freedom
  4. I am the possibility of Courage
  5. I am the possibility of Compassion

I have more, but all of these should be personal to each individual. Another way I’m using these affirmations, is at part of my vision, that I sit quietly for 10 minutes every morning and night, to think about and visualize myself in. Living life daily, from my vision

A third habit for positive energy is Deep Sleep Programming. I’ve heard others speak of it and I’ve often wondered about it. I was interested to see how this could assist with positive energy.

Then I heard April Marie Tucker talk about this, on one of the MLSP Morning Wake UP Calls. These calls are amazing, by the way. These calls are at 10 AM Central M-F. 712.432.3431. Pin 399808#.

Anyways, April talked about Deep Sleep Programming (Click Here for my saved YouTube play list) and I implemented this immediately. Your brain and subconscious is receptive, even while sleeping! This means we all have 6-8 hours of potential learning and affirmations that we could be using. This is another great way to keep positive energy.

Are you always quick to chalk it up as “bad luck” But what are you doing to create “good luck”? “Think and Grow Rich” has what you need!

www.coopsgreenteam.com

The book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill is the success Bible! This is the place to start when searching for success. In this book Napoleon Hill details 30 Major Causes of Failure… Here we go.

30 Major Causes of Failure. These are factors that will cause us to fail, IF WE DO NOT REDIRECT our course or path.
By Napoleon Hill
1. Unfavorable hereditary background-deficiency in brain-power
2. Lack of a well-defined purpose in life- no central purpose or definite goal
3. Lack of ambition to aim above mediocrity-not willing to pay the price
4. Insufficient education-can be overcome with relative ease
5. Lack of self-discipline-comes through self-control. Self-mastery is the hardest job you
will ever tackle. This is why you NEED Think and Grow Rich
6. Ill health. overeating, wrong habits of thought, or negative thinking. wrong use of sex,
lack of proper physical exercise, improper breathing.
7. Unfavorable environmental influences during childhood-”As the twig is bent, so
shall the tree grow”
8. Procrastination-Procrastination is one of the most common causes of failure.
Procrastination stands within the shadow of every human being, waiting its opportunity to spoil
your chances of success. Most of us go through life as failures because we are waiting for “the
time to be right” to start doing something worthwile. DO NOT WAIT. This time will never be “just
right”. Start where you stand, work with whatever tools you have at your command, and you will
acquire better tools as you go along.
9. Lack of persistence-People are prone to give up at first sign of defeat. Failure cannot
cope with persistence
10.. Negative personality- Success comes through the application of power, and power is
attained through cooperative efforts of other people. A negative personality will not induce
cooperation
11. Lack of control of sexual urges.
12. Uncontrolled desire for “something for nothing”- gambling instinct
13. Lack of a well-defined power of decision-Those who succeed reach decisions
promptly and change them very slowly. Those who fail reach decisions slowly and change them
frequently, and quickly.
14. One or more of the basic six fears-fear of poverty, criticism, ill health, loss of love, old
age, and death.
15. Wrong selection of a mate in marriage-Most common cause of failure. Unless this
relationship is harmonious, failure is likely to follow.
16. Overcaution- Undercaution is just as bad. Both extremes are to be guarded against
17. Wrong selection of associates in business- We emulate those with whom we
associate most closely. Pick an employer who is worth emulating
18. Superstition and Prejudice- Successful people keep open minds and are afraid of
nothing. They THINK & GROW RICH
19. Wrong selection of a vocation- You cannot have outstanding success in work you do
not like.
20. Lack of concentration of effort- The jack-of-all-trades seldom is good at any.
21. The habit of indiscriminate spending- speaks for itself
22. Lack of enthusiasm- Enthusiasm is contagious and the person who has it(under
control) is generally welcome in any group of people
23. Intolerance- The person with a closed mind on any subject seldom gets ahead.
24. Intemperance- Most damaging are overeating, alcohol, drugs, and sexual activities.
Overindulgence in any of these activities can be fatal to success.
25. Inability to cooperate with others- This is a fault that no well-informed
business-person or leader will tolerate
26. Possession of power that was not acquired through self-effort-
27. Intentional dishonesty- Sooner or later your deeds will catch up with you, and you will
pay by loss of reputation and perhaps loss of liberty.
28. Egotism and vanity- These qualities serve as red lights that warn others to keep away
29. Guessing instead of thinking – Most people are too indifferent or lazy to acquire facts
with which to think accurately.
30. Lack of capital – You must have a sufficient reserve of capital to absorb the shock of
your mistakes and to carry you over until you have established a reputation,
It will be helpful if you get someone who know you well to go over this list with you and help to
analyze yourself by each of these causes of failure. Most people cannot see themselves as
others see them. You may be one who cannot. All of these “reasons” can be overcome by

YOU TAKING ACTION.

If you allow burnout and stress to run its course, it will leave you like the pictured car.

A shell of a person. Just a body walking through life trying to survive. This is NO WAY TO LIVE!!! Life does not need to be like that! Burnout leads to lack of creativity, poor performance and disengagement. Burnout and stress also affect you physically and can cause the following symptoms; fatigue, lack of sleep, sickness, depression, anxiety, and other physical ailments. Burnout has ruined many careers. Stress has even more negative side effects wreaks havoc on your health.

You can manage and control stress!

You must remember, stress is FAKE! 100% made up from the voices in your head. Telling you stories about what may or may not happen. Throw the voices in a closet and slam the door! Yes! It really is that simple(with proper training)

How do I manage this?

It’s important to regenerate your energy. Without this, you are likely going to flame out. There are 3 steps to regeneration. These are

  1. Exercising some mind control. Think of blissful things. Or think of a time when you were fulfilled
  2. Remember… Your J.O.B does NOT define you! You are MUCH more than your job. You MUST live a balanced life with the following elements.
    1. Career
    2. Family
    3. Financial
    4. Physical health
    5. Learning and personal development
    6. Recreation
    7. Social
    8. Spiritual

If you’re missing something from that list, you’re doing it WRONG. Add that list to your agenda and make some time in your calendar to live a balanced life.

3. Become accountable for your own life!! When I was running my asphalt paving company. I allowed stress to eat me alive. I worried about employees, the economy, unions, etc… All things I can’t control. I took back control of my life by selling my problems to someone else 😉

I am personally accountable for my own life and everything that happens in it. This has helped eliminate the stress from my life.

There area a few other things I have done to eliminate stress and burn out from my life that I recommend for EVERYONE!

  1. Grow!! Always be learning. Read. Take courses. When you are growing, you are focused on the new stuff and not on the stress
  2. Meditation. Meditate at least 10 minutes every day. This is mind control. The ultimate level of personal development and taking control of yourself and your life,  is controlling your own mind. Set a timer for 10 minutes and close your eyes. Focus on your breathing. Every time you have a though, pluck the though from your mind like its a weed. It’s VERY tough to do this for 10 minutes. But your brain needs this! You must rest your brain and clear your mind, so new thoughts and Ideas can have room to grow
  3. Take a personal development course. I recommend Landmark. You can check out a short 10 minute video Here. Landmark was LIFE CHANGING for me and other’s I’ve shared Landmark with. There are MANY  ways this program helped me and enhanced my life. Landmark is for everyone, no matter where in your life or career you are at.
  4. I subscribe to and recommend, a 4 day weekend every 8 weeks. You need to recharge your batteries and remind yourself why you work hard. I’ve had many arguments with my dad on this, but for me, this step is 100% necessary, to avoid burn out
  5. Daily physical activity. Even if its only 15 minutes of sit ups, push ups and treadmill. This is VERY important. You only get 1 body and if you don’t maintain it, you will wear it out. Then you are out of business!

What is Integrity? I had wondered growing up.

I’ve since learned, without Integrity, you have nothing and nothing works. It may temporarily, but not for long.

My parents often talked to me about doing what was right and doing things in the proper manner. They didn’t refer to this as integrity, this was just “how things were”. I had never had to ask, What is Integrity?

You did things that were expected of you, whether it was conveyed or not. And you did things the right way. If I was on time, I was late. Be kind to everyone. Be thoughtful. You are a person of your word and this is how you will behave.  This was life. And they were awesome models. Many times later in life, it has shown up for me, in different situations. And I was able to be present to this and reflect back to what my parents taught me. About a year ago, I met with a long time family friend, Katie Hansen. (Check out her blog at http://clingtotherock.blogspot.com/,,, Incorrect address in the video) Katie has an amazing story, make sure you check her out. In preparation for our meeting, Katie painted a rock for me (It’s her thing). She thought of Integrity, when she thought of me. Wow!! This blew me away. I had tears in my eye. I had an “Aha” moment. Recently, I had graduated from the “Self Expression and Leadership Program” at Landmark. What is Integrity? Integrity is the baseline for everything in life and especially in Landmark. Katie reminded me of how grateful I was that my parents had taught me about Integrity.

What is Integrity  Very proud of my rock! It goes everywhere with me in my pocket

What is Integrity

What is Integrity? Integrity is;

  1.  Doing what you said you would do, and doing it on time.
  2. Doing what you know to do and doing it as it was meant to be done, and doing it on time.
  3. Doing what others expect you to do, even if you haven’t said that you would do it, and doing it on time.

Unless you live in a cave by yourself, you will fall out of integrity from time to time

What is Integrity
This guy was at the last Cub World series game!

If you fall out of integrity, it doesn’t make you a bad person. Just out of integrity, a temporary state of being. You can regain your integrity in the following manner; acknowledge you are out of integrity and acknowledge the impact that this has. Then you must put into place a plan to not fall out of integrity in the future. For example; You are late for work. You show up and acknowledge you are late.  You acknowledge the impact that this has on the others at work. Then you put into a framework to not let this happen again(” I will be 10 minutes early, every day, to make sure, that I’m on time”)

What is Integrity?

This is a deep subject related leadership. Without Integrity, Leadership is impossible.

Want to learn more about Integrity and Landmark? I recommend Landmark and have met many amazing people whom are also graduates. Check out the website at www.landmarkworldwide.com.

The best things in life are on the other side of your comfort zone. Using Self Improvement you can reach this zone

If you’re not growing, you are dieing! I’ve often heard this reading Self Improvement books from Jim Rohn. When you are leaving your comfort zone, you are growing.  The best things in life are to be gained from leaving your comfort zone.

Most of my life I never considered Network Marketing. I also never knew self development was such an important aspect to network marketing.

I grew up in a family that had a traditional business. My parents didn’t know it was called Self Improvement, but my parents often encouraged me to always read and feed my mind, to learn! My mother and father were  Entrepreneurs, as were both pair of grandparents, and many of my uncles and aunts. We were always encouraging business talk in the house. We’d go on family vacations and discuss what business ideas we might come up with, that would work in that location. Always dreaming… But I never considered network marketing. I never knew PASSIVE RESIDUAL INCOME existed!

When the economy crashed in 2008, it hit me hard.

I was crushed, in may ways. Financially I was crushed. Personally, my confidence was shaken. I wasn’t reading. I was just “surviving”. I had fallen off my track of self improvement. But luckily, I noticed this and read a book called “Failing Forward”. I realized I had to make some difficult decisions and quickly. I had to auction off most of our company. This started me thinking about, another way. There had to be something recession proof that I could do.. Then my best friend, Mark Bezik told me about a green energy business, he wanted me to look at. It seemed too good to be true! Do a few simple actions every day and earn PASSIVE RESIDUAL INCOMEI fell in love with this company and network marketing. It didn’t take me long to figure out, I had found a better way! I was going outside my comfort zone in a big way! I had to get back to work at Self Improvement.

self improvement

After proving to myself I could work this business, I made a monumental decision to leave my comfort zone.

I went through a personal and professional development course, called Landmark. It was here, I did some deep personal discovery. I realized, I no longer had the stomach to be a professional gambler. Which is essentially what I was. Gambling my life savings, my health, my family on the asphalt paving business.

self improvement

I made a decision to sell my asphalt paving company! I was making a slight career, redirect. I was now going to work on building my FORTUNE and investing in myself via self improvement, while going to work for someone else. I found a way to allow someone else to handle the stress, while I was able to sell asphalt and help transform a company, in need of transformation. Sounded like fun! I sold my company, now I still work in the industry, doing sales and consulting( earning a 6 digit income!)

So while earning my linear income, I was building an income stream, that would be my retirement and eventually allow me financial freedom. Soon, I will be earning dual 6 digit incomes.

Thanks to Landmark, I was able to have complete confidence in my decision. This was by far the best  self impovement course I have ever taken. I made the decision and its been full speed ahead.  I’ve been pushing myself outside my comfort zone on a daily basis, ever since, like the adrenaline junky that I am.  Every day, taking action, to leave my comfort zone. Getting better every day in every way! And modeling self improvement!

Looking to Transform your life and have more Freedom?

I can help!

What does freedom mean to you? It can mean many different things to different people. For many years I thought freedom was being a small business owner. Hah! That’s a great story we business owner’s tell ourselves. Most small business owners are slaves to their companies. They work 80 hours a week so they can take home a 40 hour paycheck(IF LUCKY) and count on the big payday at the end….that rarely comes.

I always was drawn to freedom. I’ve always hated being told what to do(right mom and dad?) I’ve always loved the freedom motorcycles brought me. I had many years of watching my dad slave over his asphalt paving company, thinking he was free. I thought that was what I wanted also. Then I graduated and joined my father in business and I had the “freedom” I was searching for. Ulcers, employee problems, union problems, banking problems, problems, problems, problems. All I did was put out fires. I should have been a firefighter! After 15 years of this,My mentor, Bob Quintana, recommended a personal and professional development program called Landmark. In  Landmark I discovered what freedom meant to me and I’ve been able to transform my life.

  • financial freedom
  • Free from self limiting beliefs
  • Free from all past experiences
  • Free to live where I want
  • Free to work where I want.
  • Free from concern of what other’s may think or say
  • Freedom to spend time with my boys!!

Personal Development

Freedom means many different things to many different people at many different levels. When you are free from the past, you have a clearing in which you can create something new. Without being free from the past, you will always repeat the past. The past predicts your future. It takes a transformation to truly put this into play. I’m in search of the ultimate freedom. Freedom from the system. Freedom to choose 100% based on my principles and plan. Freedom to create new, every day.

Related to freedom is stress. I am a serious person and stress had always been a problem for me. In  Landmark I learned that stress comes from the voices in my head, based off the fears of what may or may not happen. I knew I had to make a career path change at some point, but the fear of selling the company and thinking others would think I was a quitter, prevented this from happening. Completely useless thinking! Learning this changed my life. Now, I’m completely stress free and loving life. I am the possibility of freedom.

“Until the pain of remaining the same outweighs the pain of change, nothing will change” We can use Personal Development along with taking action to make that change!

Just heard Marty Hale repeat that statement on our company, weekly power call. How true it is. Take action! Actions lead to results. New actions lead to new results. Personal development will help you get new results

Many people live according to how they “feel”. I think this is a new phenomena in our culture. Back in hunting and gathering times, I’m sure often, the hunters or gatherers didn’t “feel” like hunting. But they had to. They didn’t choose to take a nap or play a video game, instead of hunting!

personal development

If you live your life according to how you feel, it is a sure way to avoid success, in anything.

Successful people just don’t live their lives according to how they feel. They don’t usually feel like studying personal development, but they do it!  I don’t feel like sitting here right now, typing this blog. I sure as hell didn’t feel like leaving my comfort zone to record this video that I shared with thousands of people. I’m putting myself out there to be judged and criticized. But, I took action anyways, because I knew, that to take my business to the ultimate level, I needed to continue to take the actions that the rockstars(Mark JRay Higdon, Eric Worre, Matt Morris, Bob Quintana, Joe Ochiogrosso) of the business take. I am leaving no stones uturned in my search for success at the highest levels. This is why I study the successful people. That’s why I have reached out to and met Ray Higdon and Joe Ochiogrosso(I’m on his team). I get the pleasure to work with Bob Quintana!(how many people do you KNOW that make 6 digits a MONTH) And I will one day get to know Mark, Eric and Matt also. All of these people take action according to what they know they SHOULD do.(according to their principles and their plan)

This morning I listened to one recorded conference call and 1 live call. On my live call(through my MLSP group) the topic happened to be taking action.

Some interesting info. What are the questions that stop people from taking action? What is going through their heads?

  • How do I?
  • What if?
  • If I ___ will I be able to ___?
  • How long will ___take?

Those are the thoughts that freeze people from taking that initial step.  Solution.. FIGURE IT OUT

Take action and get the answer. Replace expectations with appreciation(of what you’re doing, what you’re learning, what you’re apart of!)

There’s also a simple 3 step action formula you can follow.

  1. Action leads to results
  2. Results give us answers
  3. Answers direct us to the next action

IF you don’t get the result you desire, CHANGE THE ACTION

SIMPLE!!!

I am Phil Cooper,Father & Husband, entrepreneur and adventure seeker. I’m on a mission to bring freedom to those in search of it. I’m sharing my journey with you on my road of Personal Development.

Today my blog will have a theme of personal accountability. This is a blog that will touch on
  • Personal Development
  • Leadership
  • Business and team building
  • Network marketing skills
My father started an asphalt paving company slightly before I was born, in 1974. I was always around the business and working from a young age. My father and mother both taught me much about integrity, work ethic and accountability. He was also, unconsciously teaching me entrepreneurship. As a family, we always discussed business ideas and what was possible! From a young age, my parents taught me Personal Development. I was taught I could do anything I wanted!
I attended Northern Illinois University and received a degree in Business Management, with an emphasis on Entrepreneurship and small business administration. While in college I continued to operate my DJ business that I had started in High School. I worked for fraternities, and for a couple of bars.  I graduated in 1999. My first summer out of college, my father had a massive heart attack. My parents strongly encouraged me to leave the industry. Due to the business and market changing on us, they wanted to sell the company and have me find employment elsewhere. But, I’m stubborn and I thought people would look at me as a quitter. So I took over day to day operations.  I went from being in my 1st year of working full time, to running a multi-million dollar asphalt paving company in the middle of being extorted by local construction unions. I worked as hard on myself through personal development as I did on my business.
I signed up with the local unions and I declared I’d be the industry leader in commercial asphalt paving. The company grew from 2 million to 7 million with me at the helm. I was making great money for my age, but I wasn’t happy. Then 2008 hit us. We were devastated by the recession. We lost close to 2 million dollars. We had to auction off most of our equipment and downsize, quickly! I lost every dollar I had to my name. I was depressed and I even temporarily abandoned personal development. This led me to looking for something else, something recession proof. My good friend and super entrepreneur, Mark Bezik shared with me a green energy company. I was in love with MLM and energy!
After 2 years, I had proven to myself that I could work this brand new industry, network marketing, and do this part time! I also had the belief in my MLM company, so I decided to burn my bridge and sell my asphalt company, after attending the Landmark Forum(more to come on that in later blogs). There was no going back now. I was taking back control of my life! I was back to working on Personal Development, and with mentor’s like Bob Quintana, Bob Florentine and Jason Wolkow, I knew the only thing stopping me was myself!
The theme of today’s blog is personal accountability and personal development.
You may have others that are holding you back(at least in your mind) from growing your home based business,  holding you back from freedom, from enjoyment. This may be spouses, bosses, friends, family, children, etc. They aren’t holding you back. You are holding yourself back with self limiting beliefs, taught to you from the voices in your head. Don’t allow this. Take personal responsibility. Take control of your life!
Today we are holding a kickoff call for my 90 day business blitz. I’ve allowed my MLM company growing pains, personal issues, and lack of time to be excuses for me. Today, they will no longer be excuses. It’s time to take back control of my life, I’m refusing to let others be excuses for me.
I am the possibility of freedom, courage and compassion. I love my life and I live it powerfully.
Everyone has the ability to create the life they want and live it powerfully. You just need to shift your paradigm.
Starting now, I’m going to live my life like the rockstar that I know that I am.

To do this, I’m doing the following actions on a daily basis; reading 10 pages of a good book per day, reading 10 pages of a landmark based article or book per day, holding daily accountability calls for my team, meditate for at least 5 minutes, and repeat my affirmations in the morning and evening(at a minimum!) This will help me maximize Personal Development.

I will also be posting blog entries 3-5 times per week
The impact of this would seem stressful to many, considering I have a full time job and 3 young boys that I spend lots of time with and coach in sports. But stress is ” made up, based off of the fears of what may happen or not happen” coming from the voices in your head. Thanks to Landmark, I no longer have those voices. I no longer have any self limiting beliefs. I am taking full responsibility for the growth(or lack of growth) of my business.
